WHY HELLO AGAIN

Okay so prelims are over and I was gonna do another of those photo story board thingos but I have a pimple above my left eyebrow and it's actually hurting..as in I have a headache from that so I ain't gonna show y'all. I think it goes to show how much I've been touching my forehead ie STUDYING. WELL WELL WELL I havent posted in a very long while but I do have a lot of word vomit within me. So I have a compulsion to talk about prelims.

Chemistry: Yeah that prac- you see I was confused at first about how much of the solute powder thing to put in, but I realised there was no scales so I thought to put the whole thing in. BTW I wasn't there when we did that molar heat of solution prac so I'm happy I had a general idea of what to do. Yeah so I stir the stuff in and once it's all dissolved, I leave the thermometer and in the solution to let it stand for 30sec or so. But little do I realise that the thermometer is kind of heavy so i let go of it and BOOM the cup tips over and the whole solution spills out. All onto the desk. And the thermometer drops to the floor. So Maitra gives me another sample of solute and writes on the front of my paper SECOND SAMPLE GIVEN. HERMMM. Also I sat there for ages thinking part B was for prac B...and yeah I pretty much guessed the whole 2nd section =(

OH there was this crazy woman on the M54 the other day. A minute after we got on the bus, she shouted and I thought it was to like NO ONE but it was actually at us saying
"IF YA DONT SHUTUP ILL TAKE YA BUS PASSES!!! " O.O what? she was at the front of the bus, we were at the back and talking quietly amongst ourselves... So then she called the transport company and tried to lodge a complaint against our school. She said something along the lines of "ITS GREEN. IT HAS A YELLOW CIRCLE ON THE BLAZER. AND THEYRE ALL ASIAN!" So then after that she got the number of our school and I'm guessing she raged again. Crazy woman, just crazy.

Went to Parra with Anu, Vicks and Samuell after Maths today and OMGOMG so funneh. So you know how Maccas has $1 cheeseburgers after 12? Aiite so Samuel comes back with 4 cheeseburgers and Anu gets hungry. Then she says 'can i get the cheeseburger without the meat?'. That's a literal cheeseburger. No more like cheese on toast. Anyway so I go with her to the counter and say 'can i get a cheeseburger..but can we have the meat SEPARATE?' as in take out the meat cos I still wanna eat the meat LOL. She gives us a weird look and asks her manager if that's possible. From their facial expressions we figure out its a NO but then what's even weirder is that she comes back and says "that's $1.30 thanks." WHAT. WHAT. So a cheeseburger with the meat is $1 but a cheeseburger without the meat is $1.30? WHAT. LOLOLOL LABOUR COSTS. So we don't end up buying it AHHAHAA. FUNNEH.

OH and on the way back to school (on the M54) there was this lady who started talking to me and Anu. She was an old grandma that was really pleasant but then there reaches a point where the pleasant ness turns kiinda annoying. She started rambling on about her grandkids..and she started naming them. Sorta like this:
OH and oh dear Macy she just turned 15 goes to school...she wears a hat to school..you know nowadays..wait..don't you have hats? I know they used to be so strict in the old days..I was brought up in a convent...nowadays you can wear make up and earrings..we could never do that..and Charlie..and Bobby and...
Yep you get the point. I got a bit annoyed honestly. And all of a sudden after 5 mins of not talking to her, she starts again. She says 'dear, you dont mind if I stick my foot out? It's swollen..been like this for a few months..had it checked by the specialist at the hospital..im not part of a private health fund..
OHMYGOSH. And I find it quite awkward when other ppl on the bus look at you and they know that you don't want to talk to them. Tbh I was too drained after maths- I tried responding but yeah got too tiring to keep up.

So practically my whole desktop was filled to the max with documents about phys, chem, eco and a lot were on english LOL. I just cleaned them up and now i'm seeing my wallpaper again. I plan to blog a lot more. In fact, Ill post another one right now. Hope everyone is happy with how they did in exams :D

ANYWAYS:
12 Rusekids from Year 11 re currently embarking on a trip to a gorgeous tropical island to attend an international conference :D

LORD HOWE is seriously GORGEOUS, the place is like something off Getaway, or some other exotic TV show! The apartments we have are shared between 2/3 people for girls, and a huge huge five room one for the guys - and thy have CD/DVD player, fulyl equiped kitchen, plus a rec room with a pool table games, internet etc etc! Its SO IMPRESSIVE :D

So basically, What on earth are we doing there?!
Well, it all starts with Fauncey. Tom Faunce - cool guy, a Professor of Law/ Chem something, who one day went' Hey lets copy plants!'

LITERALLY.
Sooo - small crash course! (I am about to mutilate the science behind this entire conference but this is a crudeeee outline :) )
Plants get their energy from the sun, and convert it into chemical form which they then use yeah? This process is called photosynthesis. Now, Fauncey thought - hey, you know if we could imitate plants, and instead of the energy plants use to produce oxygen (which is released in to our environent) use that energy to split WATER into hydrogen and oxygen, we can USE that hydrogen! If you burn hydrogen (your typical combustion reaction), it forms WATER. which cantthen be split to hydrogen and oxygen (using energy achieved from the machine we contsruct that imitates plant photosynthesis) and the cycle is continuous! WOW. BRILLIANT PLAN

And so he calle dup all his friends, from various universities around the world ho specialse in different areas of the project - and called this project 'Global Artificial Photosynthesis' - or GAP as we fondly refer to it as :)
And so, a bunch of over 200 professors from Yale, Cambridge, German univrsity, Uni of Cali, MONASH, UNSW USYD and switzerland iceland etc etc etc are ALL COMING to Lord Howe Island to alk about what THEY speclaiise in. Except, fauncey went ' hey, none of these guys know how their part is relevant in the whole scheme! Well ill email them - NO better yet, lets recruit some kids to make this entire project future-minded and bring youth to the converenfe ec etc! And so, we came into the picture! :D

He emailled us a billion papers that the professors had typed upas thesis'es and Mrs Pooviah cound't understand half of them so she didn't send them to us haha :) But we read up, and split off into groups, and attempted to convey OUR opinion on each part of this'articifificial photosynthesis' process - with Michael Freya Samuel Manda doing governance (the economic aspect if the scheme works) Me Alex Joy Sandra doing the second part of the artificial photosynthesis process (splitting of water, what this means, problems etc) and Steven, Liz Shirley and JAson focusing ont he first part ('Photovoltaics' - capture of light energy)
AND SO the Ruse GAP project was born!

We made powerpoints, and in the case of Freya - made a MOVIE (which is bloody impressive :) ) and presented a bilion times (on impromptu at times) and FIALLY we are here, having gotten coached formmurph, bialey etc on how to present, having presented to over 100 people already, and about to leave for an international conference! after wepresent, we SIT THE NQE's (lool :( ) study! and CHILL ONA GORGEOUS TROPICAL ISLAND. On the last two days (of freee time!) we are going cruising, snorkelling, sight seeing etc etc. PLUS ont he days we have - in our free time we have free reign on the island to do whatever we ant. we cook our own food (or eat out) and me and joy are resolved to cook a decent home cooked meal though! We attend the conference dinner which is formal dress (to chummy up to the internationalz :P ) and generally have HEAPS OF FUN - with the 12 peopel comign from two other schools as well1 (who are also presenting -gosh hope ours measure up :L )

But but but it wont happen because the island is gorgeous, theres no way we could possibly go insane. (should we go insane, dibs the conch! :P )
