Lord Howe Island

Creds to Max who was the only one who actually told me! Though I know other people saw it as well, but yay (:
And - about WHAT you say? :D
Ooooh, mystery forever, curiosity killed the cat and all that (:

ANYWAYS:
12 Rusekids from Year 11 re currently embarking on a trip to a gorgeous tropical island to attend an international conference :D

LORD HOWE is seriously GORGEOUS, the place is like something off Getaway, or some other exotic TV show! The apartments we have are shared between 2/3 people for girls, and a huge huge five room one for the guys - and thy have CD/DVD player, fulyl equiped kitchen, plus a rec room with a pool table games, internet etc etc! Its SO IMPRESSIVE :D

So basically, What on earth are we doing there?!
Well, it all starts with Fauncey. Tom Faunce - cool guy, a Professor of Law/ Chem something, who one day went' Hey lets copy plants!'

LITERALLY.
Sooo - small crash course! (I am about to mutilate the science behind this entire conference but this is a crudeeee outline :) )
Plants get their energy from the sun, and convert it into chemical form which they then use yeah? This process is called photosynthesis. Now, Fauncey thought - hey, you know if we could imitate plants, and instead of the energy plants use to produce oxygen (which is released in to our environent) use that energy to split WATER into hydrogen and oxygen, we can USE that hydrogen! If you burn hydrogen (your typical combustion reaction), it forms WATER. which cantthen be split to hydrogen and oxygen (using energy achieved from the machine we contsruct that imitates plant photosynthesis) and the cycle is continuous! WOW. BRILLIANT PLAN

And so he calle dup all his friends, from various universities around the world ho specialse in different areas of the project - and called this project 'Global Artificial Photosynthesis' - or GAP as we fondly refer to it as :)
And so, a bunch of over 200 professors from Yale, Cambridge, German univrsity, Uni of Cali, MONASH, UNSW USYD and switzerland iceland etc etc etc are ALL COMING to Lord Howe Island to alk about what THEY speclaiise in. Except, fauncey went ' hey, none of these guys know how their part is relevant in the whole scheme! Well ill email them - NO better yet, lets recruit some kids to make this entire project future-minded and bring youth to the converenfe ec etc! And so, we came into the picture! :D

He emailled us a billion papers that the professors had typed upas thesis'es and Mrs Pooviah cound't understand half of them so she didn't send them to us haha :) But we read up, and split off into groups, and attempted to convey OUR opinion on each part of this'articifificial photosynthesis' process - with Michael Freya Samuel Manda doing governance (the economic aspect if the scheme works) Me Alex Joy Sandra doing the second part of the artificial photosynthesis process (splitting of water, what this means, problems etc) and Steven, Liz Shirley and JAson focusing ont he first part ('Photovoltaics' - capture of light energy)
AND SO the Ruse GAP project was born!

We made powerpoints, and in the case of Freya - made a MOVIE (which is bloody impressive :) ) and presented a bilion times (on impromptu at times) and FIALLY we are here, having gotten coached formmurph, bialey etc on how to present, having presented to over 100 people already, and about to leave for an international conference! after wepresent, we SIT THE NQE's (lool :( ) study! and CHILL ONA GORGEOUS TROPICAL ISLAND. On the last two days (of freee time!) we are going cruising, snorkelling, sight seeing etc etc. PLUS ont he days we have - in our free time we have free reign on the island to do whatever we ant. we cook our own food (or eat out) and me and joy are resolved to cook a decent home cooked meal though! We attend the conference dinner which is formal dress (to chummy up to the internationalz :P ) and generally have HEAPS OF FUN - with the 12 peopel comign from two other schools as well1 (who are also presenting -gosh hope ours measure up :L )

The only thing im Paranoid about isthat in my school diary, Someone did THIS:

Lord Howe Of The Flies

We are twelve students. Flying on an aeroplane with one teacher to an isolated, no-phone-reception island.

Oh holy crap D: !

What if it CRASHES and we're STRANDED and flksjflksdjf ! :(
And I told Joy all my fears and now she was freaking out because she is born on the year of the Pig. Ahahaha Piggy :D But yes. Knockwood. The similarities between our situation and theirs are eerie D:

But but but it wont happen because the island is gorgeous, theres no way we could possibly go insane. (should we go insane, dibs the conch! :P )
Anyways, thats lord howe
Cannot wait
Going to be
So
Freaking
Fun
:D

Plan on watching a scary movie
hae a bunch of challenges
Contrary to rumour, MRs p00vi@h is NOT rooming with ANYONE, but is instead getting her OWN room :D
I seriously cannot waitttttttttttttt, its like a break, and an adventure :D And its actually pretty interesting :)
:DDDDD!
Gotta love Fauncey and his brill plan :D

If you latsed this long - youre amazing!
I'll defs try to blog whilst we're over there as wellll :)

Youtubing Adventures

Hiiiiiiiiiii :D Just clarifying - this is vaish. As in that other person on this blog ? :P . . who admiteddly hasn't blogged foreverrrrr. BUT, after being urged to blog post by more than one person, I decided to conjure up the stamina to blog!

But before I beginnn: Happy birthday Why-vonne, Sush :)

And would like to acknowledge the stupid people spooking me out with scary movies / youtube links at night, so every sound in the house was amplified a hundred fold D: YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Fo
r anyone curry - if youve seen Chandramurkthi -  BLOODY HELL D: And that stupid Mv on the stupid guy in the bed who had a freaking scary face :( And the girl LEANT OVER to see who it was!  - I mean - if there is someone in your bed. Who is NOT your husband, since he just video called you. then. GET. OUT. OF. YOUR. BED.

Friiiiiiiiick I do not handle scary stuff well LOL :( love hate relationship, haha.
if you highlight up this far - then you are v.cool. :) Juuuust puttin' it out there :D Tell me who you are - love to know! :D SEIROUSLY.

BUT ANYWAYS - the below is a kind of a hol
iday blog post I made but never posted and have edited to include recent stuff :)

During the hols and lately I have become so fixated on YOUTUBE, the lovely lovely site full of wonderful procastinating stuff. I don't actually browse youtube that much so spent time watching all those links my little bro would link me to KevJumba, MyChonny, SupaWog, MrTeddy friiiiick you name it and I swear I've seen one show from it. LOL . And then found other amazing ones like the people who cover other songs on youtube - Christina Grimmie, Mike Thompson,Nick Petera, Disney Songs in general, Alex Goot (his cover of Adele is AMAZING) Chester See, Maddi Jane, Tiffany Alvord, Karmin Music, Tropfest, SYTYCD reruns, songs from different musicals, Harry Potter Films ( HAVE A WHOLE LIST OF GOOD ONES - youtube Marching On - Harry Potter - its so good! )The random video's Royce links me to LOL, MV's by singers / performers (way too many to list), tutorials for random things, Troll Video's (youtube: Never Say No To Panda, or even Duck Song if you can stand having that stupid, annoying trolly duck in your head for ever. :( ) . And a bunch of REALLY obscure bands, background music to movies, mashups of songs, fav movie scenes, dances. Acapella's on the net (have bunches of saved groups) but --> AHMIR - the most amazing vocal group ever!, random dance crew's (Jabberwockys, Pereotix, Quest, etc etc - again creds to my brotherrr ), contemporary stuff, WongFuProductions and all those, but MOST IMPORTANTLY:

The Jubilee Project
. And yes, sorry for the huge youtube rant, I went out on a tangent and rambled whatever I could remember and came up withhhh ^that mess, whiiich I will edit later. Or never :P

BUT was originally going to blog about THIS video in particular (video below!) Nothing special - just something that made me think haha - OR maybe since I was in the mood to see something like this . . but its a real reality check. A good one! :) And I love love love the lady in the end - watching her smile and her response was so! Beyond words. Hope I can one day answer the question like her, the smile and all :)

50 people, 1 question.

Dont be lazy! :) Trust me, if youre going to watch it, click it and watch it big screen.

Typing in white is fast becoming far to generic for me to continue doing - but if youre one of the few who highlight and read this - remember no regrets! You're pretty cool if you find this though :) Wont be typing in white for a while - defeats the purpose when >5 people know its there. whiiich I just found out - they do! Apparently, its quite obvious. I never knew :(

The Bigger Picture

IM NOT DEAD! I'm still here :D Okay you know last night I got a beautiful 9 hours sleep and i woke up several times, probably due to an overload of sleep but WHO CARES its 9 HOURS OKAY!! I had a dream that I was in a team of ruse people and we were all in Iraq fighting a bunch of stupid American soldiers-and when I say stupid, I mean I shot them in the face and I wasn't even a trained soldier. SO then we were crouching in a circle in a tuft of yellowed grass so that if anyone tried to attack us from any direction, we'd be covered but then a machine tank roller thingo comes up to us and sure, we shot a few of em down, but the Americans just kept pouring out one by one out of the tanker. Picture the Trojan horse being split open and all the soldiers pour out like a little city bred inside it. So then one guy comes up to me and points the gun at my face, says some vulgar joke which isn't even laughable and I take a gun an shoot him between the eyes. WOW I am violent. Sorry that dream had no good ending.

Well I was doing a quiz just then (which i posted) and a sudden memory came to me when I answered 'have you ever been in a mansion'. I remember I visited a rich family friend of mine and he had a chauffer. I was about 10 and he 'ordered' (how cool does that sound) the driver to take me in his car and just go for a drive :D So there I was in his BMW, masked behind heavily tinted windows looking outside as the driver and I sat in this luxurious car waving my hand like the queen saying 'thank you for being here today'. I hope y'all have watched The Princess Diaries ^^
Don't you remember those hot summer days where you used to go for "drives" with one of your parents/siblings really late at night and look at the street lights which so fascinated you? Yeah but then this thing called petrol got expensive...

In eco today, Miss Burgess gets a couple of us to transport chocolate from the print room loading dock to another room outside the HSIE staffroom. We used the trolleys where you could stack several boxes and just push it along so efficiency is increased etc...but on the way back the trolleys were empty. So Yun pushed me all the way back to the loading dock which was VERY VERY FUN =D
We had an awesome day for Jeans for Genes day and thank goodness I found someone who sold those badges. I now have a complete set of badges from year 7-11 =) Prepare for a mindblowing blazer on monday!

Oh I was at epping station today and when i walked down to the platform there were a bunch of gangster looking dudes whom I didn't particularly want to be sitting in the same carriage as. So I think they saw me walking down the platform and they started calling out " OI B*TCH!!!!" and I didn't turn around, and so they kept calling out. Yeah stupid people trying to scare me.

Hey, so when you go in a clothes store and go to try on something you like, do you ever feel self conscious about stepping outside to look at the bigger mirror? Are you scared because of those judgemental randoms sitting by on the couch next to the big main mirror? I understand you perfectly. What if you turn around to check your butt out only to see that OHGOSH you can ACTUALLY see I ain't that slim in that area? Maybe even, at that same instant you step out of the individual cubicle, some taller slimmer girl starts strutting towards the mirror and you think 'SHE LOOKS GREAT' so I'll just draw the curtain and go back into my changeroom? Well I used to be like that one time. Then one day I actually broke that bubble and told myself I had to look at the great mirror-i mean im paying for that clothing item-i want to see how it looks on me because I'm not gonna let some model ruin that chance of buying something that may or may not flatter me. So everytime I want to buy something, I go out into the lighting and look at the great mirror. Always, there are:
1) Judgemental mothers of tweens.
2) The boyfriend whose approval is sought by the girlfriend.
3) Random girls waiting for their friend to finish changing

To everyone changing, think of yourself as satisfying both yourself-because you know if the item suits you, and those 3 classifications of people waiting in the main area. You satisfy the judgmental mothers of tweens because you've tried on something that looks fabulous on you. The more confident you are, (and I swear by this), the more likely that tween will put back whatever she's trying on and go rummage the racks for what you tried on. Now, you don't REALLY satisfy number two but there is that chance that by choosing something that makes you either more confident or beautiful, that some members of the opposite sex are gonna open their eyes just for you :) And to number three, you are their form of light entertainment. They want to see what other clothes look like on people (because maybe THEY themselves are too shy to try things on) and are most likely inspired by people like you who just want to look at the 'bigger picture'.
